Released in April 1978, this song was originally recorded as one of the songs in an album "愛していると言ってくれ, or Aishite iru to ittekure (Please tell me you love me)" by Miyuki Nakajima. Covered by many artists, such as Shota Shimizu, Junko Sakurada, Fuyumi Sakamoto and Kazumasa Oda, the song has been popular over the years.
I was going to introduce another song by Miyuki Nakajima, "糸 Ito （A thread）” today. But this song kept repeating in my ear...I like "Shota Shimizu" version the best. Miyki Nakajima sings it with too much emotion, I think...

This song is ”失恋ソング Shitsuren song", a song about a lost love was written through a woman's eyes. In the lyrics, "あたし Atashi" suffer a lot but stand strong with pride. "あたし Atashi" means "I", the first-person pronoun used by female. I don't know anyone who actually use "atashi" in a colloquial Japanese but it is often used in songs and stories to imply that person is female.
