SEKAI NO OWARI
Released in January 2015, this song was first introduced as one of the songs in their 3rd album, "Tree".
The song was inspired by a princess, "かぐや姫, Kaguya-hime" whose story ”竹取物語, Taketori Monogatari" is one of the oldest Japanese stories as old as mid-10th century.
The story goes like this: one day an old couple found a bamboo tree which shone from inside. When the couple cut the tree, they found a baby girl inside. They raised the girl with affection and care and the girl had grown to be a very beautiful girl. Many suitors asked her to marry him and every time she rejected them by asking for a hard-to-get gift. One night an emissary came from the moon to get her back. She was actually a princess from the moon. At last the princess bid good-bye to the couple in tears and went back to the moon...
This is a well-known story in Japan and you can see the image of Kaguya-hime by googling in the image section.
So, the song has a exotic Japanese taste by using a variety of Japanese traditional instruments such as 三味線（shamisen, guitar)、琴(Koto, harp)、和太鼓(Wadaiko, drum)、篠笛(Shinobue, flute)、and 神楽鈴(Kagura suzu, bell). Also, a sound of "お囃子, Ohayashi" created with those instruments reminds us of 夏祭り, Natsu-matsuri (summer festival) and you can hear a sound of train and fireworks in the back as well.
