いきものがかり Ikimonogakari


Released in March 2006, this is their debut single.  

Before their debut, the trio actively performed on the street of their hometown Atsugi-city and neighboring Ebina-city in Kanagawa prefecture.  In the lyrics, the words like "小田急線 Odakyu-sen" and "大橋 Ohashi" are used as keywords to depict the scene from that area.  

 When you take Odakyu-line from Shinjuku, you will see the river when you cross between Atsugi and Hon-atsugi station.  That's "相模川 Sagami River" and "大橋 Ohashi" is supposed to mean "相模大橋　Sagami-ohashi" that bridges the river.  I'm actually from that area and I still remember sakura trees in full bloom at the riverside.

I search for that day at colored riverside

Sorezore no michi wo erabi futari wa haru wo oeta
Having chosen our own path, the two ended the spring
咲き  誇る     明日(みらい) は  あたし を   焦らせて
saki-hokoru mirai           wa atashi wo aserasete
Tomorrow in full blooms made me feel rushed
小田急  線    の   窓     に  今年      も  さくら  が   映る 
odakyu-sen no mado ni kotoshi mo sakura ga utsuru
The windows of Odakyu line reflect the cherry blossoms again this year
