Jpop Recommend #202 Togetsukyou kimi omou by Mai Kuraki

渡月橋~君想ふ~

Togetsukyou kimi omou

倉木 麻衣 Mai Kuraki

Released in April 2017, this is her 41st single.  Still being young, she became one of the most popular singers in her teens.  This song is a bit different from her early days and has a mixed taste of jpop and exotic touch.

*から紅 (Kara-kurenai)
Kurenai means red and Kara-kurenai means the color dyed with safflower. It is called Kara(唐)because the flower was brought from China.

*渡月橋 (Togetsu-kyou)
This is a famous bridge in Kyoto.

*から    紅      に  水     くくる   とき
This sentence is referring to an old 和歌(waka) from 古今和歌集(Kokin wakashu) and 百人一首(Hyakunin isshu) by 在原 業平 (Narihira Ariwara).

Original Waka goes like this:
ちはやぶる 神代も聞かず 竜田川
からくれなゐに 水くくるとは

Chihayaburu Kamiyo mo kikazu Tatsuta-gawa
Karakurenai ni mizu kukuru towa

(Meaning)
Even in the ancient time God wouldn't have heard such thing
that the color of Tatsuta river is beautifully dyed with fallen leaves in autumn like being dyed with vivid red color.
