Released in April 1984, this song was released as a collaboration between Chage who was really popular at the time as a duo, "チャゲ＆飛鳥, Chage & Asuka" known as Chage-Asu. Yuko Ishikawa is a solo singer. Because Chage-Asu's main vocal was Asuka, Chage tried a new duet with a female singer.
This song gained great popularity because of its happy tune. When I hear this song, it reminds me of hot summer and lively mood from the 80s when I see things a bit more simple and optimistic.
Some words and sentences in the lyrics have double-meaining in Japanese. For example, "愛" means "Love" and "ランド” means "Land" in English but the sounds are similar to "Island". It means both "land of love" and "island".
"ココ”="Koko" means "here", "夏”="Natsu" means "summer". When you hear "ココ夏”, it sounds like "coconuts" and it can also mean "it is summer in here".
"優"="Yu" is part of the name of Yuko Ishikawa with the same kanji it sounds similar to "you".
